Giving Thanks

 lotus-flower-6

I’m sitting here watching the news, preparing myself and my family as much as I can for the storm that is taking place and nearing my area. It brings back memories of the time I was stuck at the library while my husband and kids were huddled up in our downstairs bathroom with comforters, and flashlights, and books to keep them company. It’s close to midnight and it seems like things are calming down, for my area at least. That puts me at easy a little, just a little, we’re still not in total clear. But my thoughts can’t help but to wander on the many people who have suffered great lose because of this storm. Do you ever stop, at times like these, just to give thanks for your life and not being another number added to the tragedies? I do. And it makes all the shit that I’m dealing with in my life seem so small and much more manageable. #givingthanks

Because of Lani B., My Lips Are Sealed

Lynn Lawson is the Founder and Creatriss of Lani B. Holistic Lip Care, a holistic approach to lip care that considers the overall health of the lips in addition to the overall health of the body. Lani B. is one of the beauty companies to create such a lip care line. Their range of products includes lip conditioners, exfoliants, masques, gloss, and lipstick. All of their products are created with natural butter, oils, fruit extract powders, essential oils, and mineral powders, all natural ingredients. They believe in the importance of knowing what ingredients are placed in lip care products and strive to maintain transparency in all their lip care formulations – “for what’s placed on the lips often is ingested in the body”.

Lani B. was honored to partner-up with Carol’s Daughter for their launch party this past weekend. “We wanted to gain visibility and get the word out with our launch and knew that Caorl’s Daughter would be the perfect venue for our launch party”, says Lynn.

The launch was great! Great food! Great products! And no better place for Lani B. Lip Care to be introduced to us!

My lips are so soft and smooth! It’s been a week since the launch, more than enough time for me to give a full evaluation of the two products I got my hands on that day. First of all the Carol’s Daughter store is amazing! I love shopping there! Or is it, I just love shopping LOL! The turn out was great! The two Products that I had the opportunity to try was the, Lani B. Lip Conditioner and the Lip Exfoliant. Both products worked extremely well for me and I am happy to say that I’ve been very pleased with the results.

As I shared in my previous post, I have for some years had problems with my lips constantly being dry and no matter what I tried I couldn’t seem to solve that. The products that I was using did well to coat my lips and that’s all that they did. The problem with that is, coating and healing are two different things. It’s important to get deep in to the problem rather than dealing with the surface. Check the ingredients. You have to know what’s in it and whether or not it is nourishing and safe to be ingested as well.

Let’s start first with the lip conditioner

IMAG0282

The ingredients are sweet almond oil, beeswax, palm christi oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, jojoba oil, meadowfoam oil, evening primrose oil, avocado butter, vitamin e, rosehip oil, aloe vera oil, rosemary oleoresin, neem oil, peppermint essential oil and sericite mica. WOW! A recipe for luscious, smooth, soft lips, wouldn’t you say? I like how it smells and feels on my lips. It also gives my lips a nice mild glow, not too much, just the right amount of shine. I apply it about three times a day. For me that’s really good compared to how often I’m used to applying moisture to my lips. The jar is small but that works out well since you don’t need much to get the job done. The peppermint oil gives it a nice taste and tingling sensation on my lips which I don’t mind since peppermint is one of my favorite essential oils. And if peppermint is not one of your favorites no worries, the scent is very lite as well as the sensation. I’d recommend giving this product a try if you, like me, have been looking for a lip care product that is all natural and conditions your lips at the same time.

The Lip Exfoliant

IMAG0283

This was my favorite out of the two.

Ingredients: Raw Turbinado sugar, banana fruit powder, pineapple fruit powder, rice bran oil, and natural flavor oils. Can you say, Yummy!! It’s not recommended that you eat it but if a little just so happens to get in your mouth it’s ok! It taste great and feels great as it does it’s magic! The lip exfoliant is a lip scrub that removes dry and flaky skin from your lips leaving them silky smooth and soft. I’ve used it twice this week. It’s very easy to use. Simply apply a very small amount onto your lips. Gently rub your lips for one to two minutes (I did mine in a circular motion), and then rinse off. After that, I followed up with the lip conditioner which I noticed after using the exfoliant I didn’t need as much. I highly recommend this product as well.

Hair Today, Groupon Tomorrow!

Ladies, have you ever had to deal with unsightly hair growth growing in places you’d rather not say? I have, and for years have used painful methods like waxing or threading to temporarily get rid of it. The dread! Waxing was painful and would last only for about two weeks. Threading would have me in tears but I chose to do that more often because it lasted three to three and a half weeks. All this prodding, plucking, pinching and pain just to remove hair drove me crazy! It pays to be beautiful, right? Wrong! It doesn’t have to. I just knew there had to be a better way and guess what, I found it! Laser hair removal treatments have been a life savior and not to mention a financial savior as well. The removal process is very easy and fast and not painful at all. I don’t have to go as often so my pockets and Hubby like that. Since I’ve been going for my treatments I’ve noticed a tremendous difference in my hair growth. It’s thinner than usual, grows in at a much slower rate and when it does grow in it can barely be seen. It has been everything in hair removal that I have wanted and needed for years. I can say goodbye to waxing and threading, tweezing and cutting. This is truly hair removal made easy.

So you must be asking what are the down sides to this “oh so easy” hair removal technique, right? Well what I can say is this, it can be a little costly and there are important before and after care steps that need to be taken seriously. I wouldn’t consider the care to be a down side just something that needs to be done if you want the results that you’re looking for. You could avoid it totally and not be satisfied with the outcome. It’s up to you, but not advised. I did my research and was very satisfied with what I found. I felt better prepared having it done and knowing ahead of time what was going to be required of me. Now when it comes to our finances I know we can all use some kind of savings/discount that would better suite our pockets. This type of hair removal is going to cost you more than your average waxing, threading and any other method you maybe used to using, but its well worth the extra money. But if you can get a discount, wouldn’t you rather that? Yes, you would. I have some great news for you then!

Early last year my Husband got one of our favorite emails delivered to his inbox and when he saw what it was, he didn’t hesitate to grab it. Groupon, the well known discount savings club, sent out a deal for laser hair removal treatment and knowing this was something I wanted to try he got it for me. The savings was great! I got four laser hair removal treatments for $125! If you look at what these treatments cost regularly you’ll understand why we thought that was a great deal. So what does that have to do with you? I’m glad you asked. I got word today from the place that I have my treatments done that they are about to be featured, tomorrow on Groupon with an even better deal than last year. If you are a Groupon subscriber (if you’re not, I would advise you do become one) in your inbox tomorrow starting at 9AM you will receive a Groupon deal for 6 laser hair removal treatments for $99!! Yes, that’s right!! My advise, buy it. You will be happy that you did. Do your own research as well and you’ll see that’s a HUGE savings! And, if you do find an online competitor with a better price the company that is offering this great deal will honor that.

skin matters1

So who are they? Skin Matters! The staff is very helpful, friendly and professional. All of my questions are answered thoroughly. I never feel rushed and it’s apparent that everyone has my best interest in mind. My waiting room time is never long. It really is an in and out experience. Skin Matters will work with you and your skin as best as they can until you are completely satisfied and see your desired results. As for those special care instructions, you can read them here.

Personally, my experience has been great and I am completely satisfied with my results. I highly recommend giving laser hair removal treatments a try and rid yourself of other painful methods that only last for a short time. If your skin really does matter to you, you’ll consider giving Skin Matters a try, you won’t be disappointed.
