Mrs. Carter

Do you know what I love about this beautiful soul? Her PASSION! Whatever she does you can see it oozing out of her and watch it as it spills all over the audience. And, I can particularly (even for a moment) feel the jolt of energy that surges through her husband as he watches on. What a turn on!!
I'm a fan of Beyonce' drive for excellence and I'm wishing her and Jay-Z the best as they embark on this new journey of parenting. What a musically inclined child this will be.
I enjoyed her performance and as usual, her intentional statement at the end, revealing her newly found joy and love brewing in her womb.
Enjoy!!

Horn of Africa

The other day I shared a link on Facebook concerning the crisis taking place in the Horn of Africa. A few days later, after sharing the link, I felt so empty about that post. I was bothered by the images that I saw and didn’t want it to be just another "status update". I was compelled to do more. As a mother my heart ached as I looked at pictures of hungry children. I sympathized with the helpless feelings that must haunt their mother’s daily. So instead of staying there I decided to get involved, be about it, and turn this into an opportunity to teach my children how they can help the less fortunate. My children, after reading the stories, were very excited to help and join the many students who are already involved and making a difference.
The WFP (World Food Programme) has set in place 10 different ways to help. Check out the list of ways you can get involved and if your heart desires to do so, jump in where you fit in. Or, you can donate right now by clicking on the link below.

Last Night…

When I climbed into bed I almost forgot to write in my gratitude journal. I was so sleepy I could barely get up after my head hit the pillow. I looked over to my left and what do you know, my Evo, sitting there charging. Instead of getting up to grab my pen and journal I opened up one of my FAVORITE Android Apps, IJournal. So, journal entry #1 started off with being grateful for my IJournal App Winking smile

Planning & Reflecting

399096849_3d393c65af_m

As I’m taking time to plan my week ahead it always helps me to reflect on the past week. (I can’t believe it’s already over. Did it go by fast for you too?) Happily, I managed to complete all that I asked of myself without pulling my hair out. *Patting myself on the back*. I had a very productive week. I remained in the “flow” and allowed things to progress the way it needed to. I used to be such a prick when it came to making lists. I had to follow them to the “T” even if that meant throwing me off balance. “I have to do this. I have to do that.” Learning to bend has eased things around this here parts for sure. Now I’ll plan, make my lists and do my best (without stress) to get it done. My kids and I had a great time meeting up with our Homeschool group, it was our first official meeting of the year. I made some new connects. Connected with some seasoned friends and played adult trivia for the first time, loved it! (I like to call them seasoned, not old. Seasoned tastes so much better).  Went dancing with Hubby. As usual, this was one of my highlights. Spent some time at the spa. Got my nails done. (Ladies, if you haven’t tried Gelish or Shellac Manicures then you don’t know what you’re missing!! I highly recommend it). Friday night was movie night. We tried a new recipe and made Fish Taco's for the first time. They were delish!! The dish was inspired by one of our educational video’s we watched that featured the tour guide traveling to Bahia De Los Angeles, who devoured a Fish Taco of his own.

As the week progressed I couldn’t help but to send love and light to all in the path of the Hurricane. To all who lost a loved one and all who had to take shelter. It’s times like these where I especially give thanks for my life and notice how all of my (seemingly meaningful) problems disappear. I have family members who have had to evacuate, who live in New York and Jersey. They are all doing well, thankfully. This reminded me to pull out my gratitude journal. So for this week one of my goals is to make a list, each night, of all that happened during the day that I am grateful for. Life is so precious and worth appreciating daily. Noting it takes it a step further. #gratitudejournaling

Not Gone Be Able To Do It!

Ladies, I had to admit it to myself and give in. I’m not fit enough to do it this time around and that’s quite ok with me. I was disappointed at first but relieved as well. Maybe if it were just a tad bit shorter. No, maybe if it were a hell of a lot shorter. You have to know your limits man, and make adjustments accordingly. I would love to, but not going to die trying.

You can do it if you want. Go here and sign up fast. The early bird registration has already ended.

Caution: Handle With Care

I can remember as a little girl watching my Mom hand wash my Dad's dress shirts in (what appeared to me to be) the biggest sink a little girl's eyes could see. She would make sure there were no rings around the collar's, no rings around the wrists and no stains left behind. (Like those familiar ink stains in the chest pockets from pens leaking.) She took care and pride in what she was doing for him and never complained about it. She knew that when he got dressed and looked all crisp and clean she had a part in that.

Today, this memory came back to me as I was hand washing one of my Husband's shirts and my little girl was watching me. As I washed I could see her thoughts, just like I had thoughts rolling around in my head back then. She's learning. Learning what? Learning to take good care of the things of her loved ones. Learning that this is what her Mommy does for her Daddy and she see's me doing it with a good attitude. Little lessons of love go a long way.

I enjoy hand washing. Yes, I enjoy hand washing my husbands shirts. I do it because I want to, willingly and with pride. There is something interestingly therapeutic and soothing about it. Maybe it's the soap I use with one of my favorite scents (lavender). Maybe it's the loving thoughts I'm having towards my husband because it's his clothes I'm washing. Maybe it's the pride that I feel when he puts it on and I know that I did that. Maybe it's the smile on his face when he knows he can count on me to have them ready for him. Maybe it's the example I'm setting for my little ones about caring. Maybe it's one of these things and maybe it's all, but I love it. Call me old fashion if you want I actually would take that as a compliment. The same thing goes for doing laundry, folding clothes (especially little people's), washing dishes, wiping down counters and tables. Domestic duties, to me are simple actions you can take to give back to those you love. It's all about your attitude.

It's That Crazy Love Thang

I really wasn't expecting to even like this movie as much as I did. But I did. And in fact, I liked it so much I had to see it twice. A couple of Friday's ago I was out alone. My week was coming to an end and I needed some winding down time. I had a few errands to run in the morning and by that afternoon I was hungry and ready to eat lunch. But I couldn't figure out where to go. I had my book with me and I knew I wanted to get a few pages read. Well, that didn't work out so instead I decided to catch a bite to eat at one of Atlanta's dinner and a movie spots. I thought, "A date at the movie theater alone, isn't a bad idea at all". I checked out my Fandango App on my android, (love that App) and saw that Crazy, Stupid, Love was about to start in 5 mins and I was about 5mins away, perfect. Halfway through the movie I couldn't wait to see it again and was already planning my date with Hubby to see it. I ate, had a good laugh and a good time. Who doesn't laugh at Steve Carell? He's one funny dude.

If you haven't seen the movie yet, check it out. You might be as pleasantly surprised as I was. This was "me time" well spent!

Dwayne Johnson - aka, The Rock - So Sexy!!!

One of my favorite movies starring Dwayne Johnson is The Game Plan where he plays an NFL star who discovers he has an 8 year old daughter and life changes for him drastically. Nice family movie!

The First Family of Black Hollywood

Will and Jada Smith are by far one of my favorite Hollywood couples. This month they adorn the cover of Architectural Digest Magazine. I love the way Will describes their home and why they chose to design it the way they did. In this issue you can get a peek inside their intimate space that they share with their adorable children. I've wondered about their home and what kind of character it has, what kind of furniture and intimate places it has. They are such a power couple in many aspects and one of those aspects that always gets me is how intimately sensual they are with one another. Don't you love it? I've wondered about secret rooms, and possible love dens, and maybe even a lair...lol. Been watching too much t.v., maybe? And, um, maybe I have a little obsession with them but who cares. I'm hella attracted to them, and people who turn me on, aren't you?
Anyway, enjoy!

Returning To Pleasure

Looks like I shot my arrow too short and now I'm expanding once again. This year I decided to return to one of my pleasures in the form of my love for reading books. It was a love that I had set aside for many years while I was beautifully, barefoot and pregnant. (Definitely not an insulting term to me...I enjoyed it thoroughly). I would read magazines, things online but having a book in my hand, feeling the pages beneath my fingers, curling up under a blanket with my book was a big turn on for me.

During my younger years my face was always buried in a book. When I wasn't busying myself getting into other things like putting on dance shows, playing touch football, relay racing, riding my bike, playing basketball, running track, cheer-leading (yep, tried that for a little), one of my favorite down times was to read a book. One of my favorite book series was The Baby-Sitters Club, do ya'll remember that? I'm so pleased that our kids have taken up that same love and enjoy reading all the time.

I set my reading goal to read 5 books this year and I've already completed 4 to my surprise, so I'm raising that number. I don't know to what yet but just the fact that I can feels good. I'm currently reading Eat Pray Love with a book club and I'm enjoying this book so far. Have ya'll read it? Did you like it or not?
