My 6th year Blog Anniversary!!

Here are a few reasons why I'm glad I started this blog...

The people I've met

Their support. Their inspiration. Their motivation. Their courage. Their hopes and dreams. Their successes. Their wisdom. Their stories. Their honesty. Their presence. Their comments. Their Friendship.

A place to get naked and vulnerable with you.

Even though being naked and vulnerable doesn't always "feel" safe, it still brings a satisfying feeling knowing that when I'm naked and vulnerable it helps you to be that way too. My first thoughts about blogging were, who would want to do that? Who talks about their life openly and completely unashamed, naked, so the world can see? Those thoughts have been put to bed a long time ago and seeing what it feels like to be on the other side is like water to my thirst. There is wisdom in sharing and being open to the world, not only is it healing to me but for you as well.

I can go back through my archives and read things I've written years ago and smile at my accomplishments, laugh at some of my embarrassing moments, and be encouraged by my inspirations.

Building a blog is a lot like building your life. It takes time and effort to create what you want and desire. I've accomplished many things I wanted to accomplish through this blog and can sit back and smile at the feeling that brings. I've written some posts that I've wanted to take down completely because of the embarrassing feeling I get reading it but I decide not to. What I look at as embarrassing could be a blessing to someone else and I leave it at that. And I'm always inspired by my creation and appreciate myself even more.

Through the years I've created a space for lovers to be inspired and strengthen their love for one another by opening up and trying new things.

I'm a Lover. I'm born this way and will be this way until the day I leave this world. I'm a Lover and will continue to help others bring out the Lover in them. The world needs more Lovers and someones gotta help bring them out and unleash that dragon, ha! I'm up for the challenge that's for sure. I love assisting couples create open and honest communication through unconditional love.

My blog encourages me to keep growing.

My blogging journey hasn't always been easy sailing for me. I've walked away from it many times and wanted to give up completely. But I can't. I cannot give up on you. So I push past those times of difficulty through re-grouping, re-organizing, and digging deeper into why I do what I do. Why I blog.

For My Children

My children honor my love for sharing, writing, and glowing in what brings me enjoyment. My oldest daughter has learned so much through reading my posts and will continue to learn, grow, glow and be inspired. She's thanked me at different times for writing what I did and how it's helped her to see a different perspective. There are times when I blog more than others and when those times are here my kids see me writing and will leave me be. That's their way of showing support.

For My Husband

He observes me even more through my blog. He sees my growth. He experiences my pain to grow even more and supports me through it. He has helped me build this site to where it is today. He has dedicated many hours of learning HTML and different codes to make it better and sometimes pulling all niter's to see a project through. He was even a contributor at one point which I'm extremely grateful for. I love knowing he reads my work and will at times text me a high five for something I've written that moved him deeply. I'm blessed to have his support.

There is still more life in Lisa C Writes. As I move closer to my core, to revealing more of who I am, to embracing myself as I continue grow, I will share those moments, times, and journey with you. My continued hope is that you will be blessed, enriched, and inspired to grow as well. I may write things/post things that will challenge your beliefs and/or cause you to become uncomfortable - that's o.k, no one has ever gone wrong from questioning why they do what they do. Just know that it's all coming from me to you in love. I also hope to strengthen and encourage you to blossom and grow into all that you aspire to be. Thank you for being with me through my online journey.

Ciao Bella!

I'm on the edge ya'll and writing to tell. What's happening beautiful beings of light?? I'm amazed at the vast movement of things happening in and through my life at the start of this new year. It's been quit a pleasurable experience and one that I've been sharing through my writing.

Just the other day I shared on a call to some beautiful lady Goddesses two of the ways I help to release and let go all that's inside of me to make space for more. One of those ways is to write. I write! I write in several places, this place being one of them, my first blog of almost 6 years! My Android EVO phone being another. My two (at this moment) hand written journals, and several online outlets. Ahhh, it feels so good to release!!

Writing is what I describe as my way of mentally releasing. (I'm currently working on my first book!!) It helps me to empty my mind from all the thoughts that pass through me on a daily basis, not only from within but also from without. Which leads me to share some valuable steps I've been taken to improve my mental and emotional health. First, I made the decision sometime last year to become more aware and mindful of who I allow into my life with all of their emotional energy in tow and to be very unapologetic about it. (A position Mrs. Corretta Scott King prided herself in having). Also, I would become mindful of what I allow to penetrate my life from all aspects, i.e the things I listen to, the things I read, watch and so on. I've put it into action with diligence and have seen some startling benefits and have watched some things/people that I held very high fall off by the way-side and take their influences with them. In some cases my expectations were just too high and I tried to draw blood from a turnip (as the saying goes). Writing is a high form of expression and creativity for me and allows my imagination to run wild which is a beautiful thing for me.

Now on to the next and most exciting way I release in all ways, spiritually, emotionally, physically, mentally, and that is through Orgasms. For a very long time, earlier on in our marriage, my wise husband would say to me "An Orgasm A Day Keeps The Anger Away"! When I shared this on the call all of us burst out with laughter that was felt in our entire bodies. For one, because we all knew deep down that it was true and two, it brought up personal memories of our own Orgasms, some memories as fresh as that day, yum!! I didn't take his advice about it so easily because that raging woman inside of me who was expressing anger just did not want to stop being angry or let go to have some 'ole Orgasm. I also blew it off as "things men would do" but Oh my, oh my was I sadly mistaken. Now, I live by that motto and with all my pleasure enjoy that remedy. As Women we carry so much, not necessarily by way of stressing or worrying, just by way of being a Woman. We have many, many different roles to play and fulfill, and many pulling at us to do so. Our containers can become so full and in desperate need of release that we just can't take it anymore and EXPLODE!!! What I'm saying is love yourself enough not to allow you to get to that point and take time to release. Find out what ways you like to release and add an Orgasm to that. Some of us like to buy things, some of us like to bake, read, go to the movies, smoke even. Do that because these are all helpful ways of release for us physically but our other bodies need releasing too.

Go into a room and close the door physically and mentally, become quite in a safe place and and love on your body. Feel free to express love to yourself in this way and reap the benefits of what releasing through Orgasm can bring. These Moments: It's Two AM and I'm curled up on the couch typing away while Hubby sleeps peacefully by my side. And me giving him secret kisses every now and then.
Taking the kids roller skating Monday night with Grandma, that was the fun part. Watching my baby girl fall and hurt herself, not the fun part. Running a bath for her filled with scented episome salt and seeing a smile on her face, priceless.
I'm not even close to being done unpacking boxes but I'm as organized as any Mom would want to be when their child asks them where can they find their favorite toy.
Going to the movies Friday night and seeing Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol with Hubby. #moviesthatrock #can'twaittoseeitagain
Enjoying my new front loader washer and dryer. Laundry mountain doesn't seem all that bad these days.
The sugar rush we all got from eating holiday goodies Daddy got from customers who love him so. Dark and white covered strawberries. Chocolate covered pretzels. Shortbread chocolate icing covered cookies. Chocolate cookies. Oatmeal raisin cookies. mmm...mmm, sinful I tell ya!
Our Saturday night Flag party. Hubby and I represented with our Red White & Black (Trinidad) flag and danced until our feet (well, mine at least) hurt. We are seriously in the process of designing comfortable dancing shoes with heels. If you have suggestions please holla at ya girl. You have to be able to dance for a good four hours straight with the last thing being feet on your mind.
I just saw that Jennifer Hudson commercial where she is singing side by side with herself. One is of her with her weight on and the new her without it. She has come a long way and looks great! I Believe In You and Me.
Watching The Secret Lives of Bees with my two oldest on Saturday afternoon. They love Mommy movie picks and vegging out on the couch in their pj's.

For The Geek In Me

Earlier this year I decided to return to one of the things that I loved to do before my life was filled with the pitter patter of little feet and wet kisses. Reading books was something I had always loved to do and did it often. Books became a way for me to expand my imagination and develop my sense of creativity. As a child a book was sometimes all I had to the exposure of life in someone else's shoes. I read fiction and non, auto-biography's and memoir, history, poetry, religion, romance, classics, philosophy, to name a few. I wrote short stories, poetry, and romance. I remember building relationships with kids in highschool just because they liked to read as well. I was shy in school and one of my favorite places to go was the school library.

I set my 2011 goal to originally read 5 then upped it to 7 and hit that goal earlier this month! So I'm raising the bar since I'll be starting in January not sometime in May like I did this year. My goal for 2012 will be 10, not nearly as much as some of my book club members who's goals are in the 20's, 30's, and 50's. 10 is my number and good enough for me.

Right now on this beautiful, quiet Saturday morning, I'm sitting in bed creating my list of books to read in 2012. I love online places like Goodreads and Shelfari that help me to keep my reading lists in order. Here is what I have so far, in no particular order and subject to be booted off the list if another book out ranks it:

10 is my goal for 2012 and wish that I could do more because there are so many other books I'd love to read. I'll start here and see how it goes.

Are you guys all ready for the holiday? If yes, good for you. Hopefully you'll use these last few days to take it easy with smooth sailing on your side. You get extra points for being an early bird. If not, well, what are you waiting for?? Procrastination is a bitch, ain't it? LOL. All you can do now is hope for the best and that everything will turn out ok. Hopefully you'll decide to do things differently next year and have that shopping done. I know how unsettling it can be when you have to rush things through simply because you put off some very important things sometime back and those things have caught with you now. When this happens to me the whole time I'm rushing to put things together I'm usually not the nicest person to deal with. I'm also not the nicest person to myself. This is obviously not one of my preferable ways to deal with these situations, however it's one that comes easily for me, and asking why, I've learned, is futile. Making better choices to deal with unpleasant situations adds much more value to our lives and how we get to enjoy that life.

This morning I woke up early, got dressed, and headed to the cell phone repair store. My oldest son got to hang with me all by himself today and as usual, he enjoys that. I enjoy having the opportunity to spend individual time with my children as this is a rare occurrence having five of them to split my time up with.

I was headed to the cell phone repair store because my phone wasn't holding a charge anymore. No matter what charger I tried it would not charge. I spent way too many days rigging charges and avoiding going because being without my phone is, well, like the end of the world. Drastic? Yeah. Dramafied? Yeah that too but I need my phone. I finally gave in and they told me it would take ONE to TWO hours, perfect! I could live with that. I left my phone with them around noon and returned around 4:15 and they were closed!!! Really? This was Saturday and guess what? They were closed all day Sunday!!! Talk about heated! I was done. I was so prepared to write a nice Yelp review on this store and let them have it because they didn't call me when they were done.

This I learned was to be a blessing in disguise.

I got to spend this entire weekend unplugged from all things online. At the same time my laptop was acting up and Hubby had not hooked up our office as yet so I couldn't use my computer either. I managed. It's one thing to decide to unplug it's another to have no choice. I did get to do other things that needed my undivided attention and that made all the difference in the world. Turns out it's not the end of the world that I didn't have my phone. Yes, there were tons of messages on my phone, tons of text messages...69 to be exact. And, lets not forget about my email that's now over 1000 that I usually manage on my phone as soon as they come in. Granted that number was growing out of control before this happened and of course it just got worse. Major email deletion haul coming soon as well as taking a good look at the many different alerts I have coming to my phone and deciding what to and what not to keep.

On to my blessing and someone else making a difference in my life...

While I was out I found a new thrift store while looking for a new beauty supply store. I lucked up and found this gem and was completely taken back by all they sell. I called Hubby and he met me up there right away and he found a gorgeous coat for our daughter. While I was standing in line a lady by the name of Davetta looked at me and said, "that's a beautiful coat are you going to buy it?" I said "yes", and she asked me, "if she could buy it for me?" "Buy it for me?" "Yes, I want to buy it for you and I want you to pick out anything else you want." Really?? With my mouth on the floor I mustered up the words, "ok...thank you but why?" She said she couldn't find anything for herself and wanted to bless someone. Wow!!!! Not only was I shocked by this experience while it was happening to me but just the night before I was watching t.v. and saw a commercial on 11 alive news where they were doing this very same thing for others. The commercial showed them in a store asking a customer how she planned on paying for her purchase. She planned on paying by credit and they told her they were going to buy everything in her cart for her. She was thrilled and so was I! Davetta says that she does this occasionally and picks random people to be a blessing to. We exchanged numbers because this is the kind of person I want in my life. One who is open to being a blessing in the lives of others just because.

I was grateful for this experience and after this happened to me I feel like it's my turn to do the same for someone else. It's sort of like paying it forward. I'm blessed therefore I will be a blessing and it doesn't have to happen in the order just the fact that it happens is all that matters. Imagine the smile on someone face at what a difference this can make in their lives especially during this time of year.

Hubby and I introduced the movie Pay It Forward to our kids some years ago and the message they got from that movie was priceless and one that all of us can learn from.

Ouch!...Who Put That There?

I hit my toe when I got out of bed this morning. Not literally, but it hurt like hell just the same. My attachment to something going the way I wanted it to go was lying on the floor next to my bed and when I got up...bam! Damn!! I spent all day thinking about how I reacted and wish I could have retracted my reaction. The best that I could offer to myself is to accept it, feel it, allow it, learn from it, and move on. Tomorrow is a new day.

Just A Sweet Hello...

And A Toast!

My move is finally over and things went really well, I’m so happy about that. Sure, I have a little bruise here and there and yes, my body is aching…all over but I’m glad that part is over. Looking forward to making my first spa appointment very, very soon. My nails are in need of a mani as well. These things are to be expected but what was not to be expected is this beautiful weather Georgia has been having lately and how it has helped in our December move. So thankful for that! I’m also thankful for the help that I had through this move from a few of my lady friends, you know you who are. Even though your help has not been physical yet (*wink *wink), your emotional support has gotten me through. There is something special about being able to pick up the phone or email your girl and give her an earful about what’s going on with YOU and how she says just the words you needed to hear. Relationships like these take time to develop and it’s not always easy but it’s so worth the sweat! I love you Ladies.

My Husband is the MAN!!! On his few days off he worked, and worked to get us situated and make us as comfortable as he could in our new home. Many nights he slept for just a few hours before having to work a full day and when he got home he got straight to work again. Today was the first time him and I got to go to lunch together since last week and that’s way too long for us.

Let’s toast!! Thanks to everyone who has wished us well and all the support we’ve gotten and will continue to get, you guys are amazing!!! *Cheers!!!

Fabulous Finds Friday #11...

Our beautiful new home!

For weeks we searched and searched and searched to find a home that would be a good fit for our family. We would have the space we desired to have, we would have the privacy D and I desired to have, and we would all fall completely in love with it. I'm so happy to share with you guys that our search is finally over and we begin our moving process today!! Whoot!!! Whoot!!!

Our kids are so excited and we are too! We took them to see it last night and they didn't want to leave, as we expected. But they are troopers and know that packing is in order first, then we move. I don't know about you but moving into a new is like having a baby. Yes, it may sound crazy but that's how it feels to me...#don'tjudgeme! It's brand new, exciting, and feels sooooo good!

We are moving over the course of this weekend and into the beginning of next week so I'm going to be extremely busy with packing, organizing, etc. The good thing about it is we don't have to rush, we can take our time and do this stress-free. Unfortunately, I don't have many posts scheduled (oops) so I'll be posting when I can. Thanks to everyone who has been on this journey with us and have kept us in your loving thoughts, my family is grateful.

Oh, and I'm already planning our housewarming party!! I'm looking forward to celebrating our new home with our beautiful family and friends, can't wait.

December 1st was World AIDS Day and in an effort to help support the fight against AIDS many participated in events all across the globe. These events help to raise awareness and support for people living with HIV.

Many of us personally know someone living with this illness and many of us knew someone who, sadly, has passed away. There are ways to get involved to show your support that will make a difference in someone’s life. Click on the link to see which campaign is right for you.

You ever get so emotionally distraught you don’t know which way you’re going? You don’t know what to do or who you can turn to?

This tip for creating lasting love involves your emotional wellbeing. How well have you been taking care of that aspect of who you are? This is a major area in relationships that if not attended to can greatly affect our sexual relations.

We all have problems and issues that come up ever so often. We all come from dysfunctional families in some kind of way. We all experience hurt, disappointment, and (my all time favorite), growing pains. These are all things that we have to take responsibility for whatever emotional scars they may have caused. Rather than trying to resolve them (some are unresolvable), we should learn to see how they have impacted our lives. When we see these things with clarity, they tend to become more manageable and acceptable.

Here are some suggestions for staying clear emotionally:

Keep a journal – Writing your thoughts and feelings down brings clarity. If you have trouble writing it down, record your thoughts and feelings on your phone or some sort of recording device. (Many smart phones have this ability). When you are done, revisit what you’ve written/recorded and see if clarity comes to you.
I use both and one of my favorite apps is iJournal.

Read personal growth books – These books are written by people who have been there done that, they just might know what they are talking about and offer you some guidance.
I can’t tell you the number of personal growth books I have in my book case and other places in my house that I have turned to in time of confusion, and doubt.

Practice self-reflection through meditation – Being still and listening to what’s going on inside of you can bring you to a place of peace and comfort knowing that all is really well.
I believe that when you pray, you are doing the talking and when you meditate, you are doing the listening.

Have a solid friend whom you can turn to – Many times we just need someone we trust with ourselves to listen. A friend who can give you their ear, time, and create space for you to unload. A friend who will say, “now, there, there, honey, it will all be ok. Or for those of us who have the kind of friends that will, yank you up by the collar and say, "now you know it's time to get yo' shit together". Either way, they are there.

If we are “off” emotionally, chances are we will feel sexually “off” as well. Be aware of the connection and keep yourself emotionally healthy.

Eat Pray Love, The Book Review

Two Sunday’s ago was my book club’s last meeting for the book Eat Pray Love. A little while ago I wanted to create something with the women in my family to get together and spend quality time with one another, that’s when the book club was born. We took our time with this one and met once a month to discuss, fellowship, eat and enjoy each other’s company. It was a job well done and each and every one of us are looking forward to the next book. Someone mentioned, The Help. Heard it was good so maybe, just maybe.

Elizabeth really and truly hit home with this one. I’m talking heart wide open, spread on the table for all to examine, poke, and prod. Many times when reading I felt as if I wrote these lines. I was like, yeah, that's how I felt, that's what I needed or didn't. It felt good to read someone else's story of trails, tribulations, joy, and freedom and be able to identify with them. Here was a women who went through a transformation that didn't always feel it's best, that had her crying on her knees, that had her confused and wanting to give up on everything and everyone, but she didn't! How many times have you felt like that? She kept moving forward even though she didn't know where forward was leading her. Her desire to grow, to become more of who she truly was, is what kept her going. How many times have you had to step out in faith and go where you've never gone before?

One of the lines in the book that got me into action was, "The great Sufi poet and philosopher Rumi once advised his students to write down the three things they most wanted in life. If any item on the list clashes with any other item, Rumi warned, you are destined for unhappiness". I paused at that moment and wrote down my three most wanted things and gladly saw no conflict. It was one of the things I encouraged the ladies to do and I'm encouraging you to do the same. Go ahead, see what you come up with. You may be surprised at what you find.

What are the three most wanted things on your list?

Elizabeth takes you along with her as she journeys through Italy, India, and Indonesia. In each country she experiences life in a totally new discovered way. In this she learns how precious her life is, and the lives of those she meets along the way and how not giving up will eventually pay off.

The ladies and I enjoyed Elizabeth's indulgence with the tasty foods of Italy so much that at our last meeting we had an Italian feast filled with good food, wine and to close it out, we watched the movie.

If you enjoy books that move you and inspire you to be your best, you'll enjoy this one.

* One of the down sides to this book was just that, the down sides. When Elizabeth hit rock bottom she really hit the bottom and it felt like it was never going to end. That's when I had to put the book down and move on to something else. That part of it made it really difficult to move on. Kind of like what she experienced, I guess. She hit rock bottom and it took her a while to come out of it but eventually she did and life became more enjoyable for her. So in reading the book, I was more than excited to get pass those parts to move onto a more pleasurable feel in my reading. Be prepared for the lows because they are very low.

Pinterest, I’m Pinning! Are You?

I've mentioned in a few of my posts how I love pining on Pinterest and building my many wish lists. A few of you darlings may or may not realize what I'm talking about. For those of you that do, great and happy pinning to you! For those of you who don't, let me explain *smiles.

Pinterest is a virtual vision board. Unlike creating one vision board to hang up in your home/office, on Pinterest you can create many boards, virtually. As many boards as your heart desires that shares all of your wishes, desires, loves, and creativity. You can use Pinterest to express who you are and what you like, (even create a board of dislikes) and share it with everyone.

My Tummy Says, Yes! All those goodies make my mouth water especially the Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte that I pinned from Love Veggies and Yoga!

I love the board that I created for my Mr., Inside His Closet. I really like this suit for him by DB Movement and this gorgeous wood and diamond ring!

I absolutely love my Beauty of Our World board! I'm inspired by one day knowing I will set foot in those places!

And lastly, my all time fav is my Peek Inside My Closet board!!! It's oh so delicious and I can literally spend hours pinning on this board. This is my wish list board at its best. I've already made my first purchase from it, the Tribal Party Scarf that I purchased from Le Mode while they still had it for sale. Love it and can't wait to take some pics wearing it!

Fabulous Finds Friday #9 The Scent of Citrus

One of my favorite things to do is take long, hot showers. It’s alone time at it’s best and adding one of my favorite scents to create an aromatherapy atmosphere only makes it better. Some of the scents I use are, Lavender, Peppermint, Rosemary, to name a few. But lately I have been indulging myself in a favorite that I absolutely enjoy, citrus.

One of the wholefoods store that I go to sells their own natural bars of soap and I can go a little over board when I’m buying them. It’s to the point where Hubby asks, “you think you’ve got enough”, LOL. What can I say, I love what I love and enjoy what I enjoy and I aim to please, myself! Eventually though, I’m going to make my own. It’s a project the kids and I have been looking forward to doing. I have a few recipes just waiting for me to make the time to do it. I also buy my soaps from a company called, Melaleuca. They sell a bar of soap called, the gold bar, it is to die for. If you ever want to try something new, start with that one for your soap needs. Trust, you will love it if lemon scents work for you.

Some of the effects of citrus scents is that it is said to have an uplifting, refreshing, and cheering up effect. This I’ve noticed to be so true. It really picks me up and brightens my spirits. It’s one of the essential oil scents I add to my massages from time to time.

Check out another favorite oil of mine I use from head to toe.

I enjoy turning my bathroom into my own personal wet sauna, and cracking open a fresh pack of lemon scented soap to be drifted away into a state of sweet and pure bliss. I love getting down like that!

The Thankful Tree

Last week the kids created a craft project for the holiday that shared some of the things they are thankful for and one thing in particular stood out to me and their Dad. It was a very creative project that they came up with and wanted to give it a try. They all love crafting in some shape, form, or another and when they are ready to create I simply move out of the way, sit back and watch them go for it. I have to say, my kids are an inspiration to me and I am thankful for the blessings that they are.

First, they gathered all of the items they would need.

1 ~ Construction Paper

2 ~ Glue

3 ~ Scissors

4 ~ Colored Pencils, Crayons, and Pens

That’s it! Pretty simple, yes? I watched them pick the colored construction paper of their choice, gather the colored crayons/pencils they wanted to use and create masterpieces they were all proud of. They began by tracing their hands and cutting them out. Next, drawing a tree without branches and then cutting that out. Then, pasting the tree to one of the construction paper sheets, followed by pasting the hands on the tree and using them as the branches and leaves. Then they wrote down all of the things they were thankful for on the hands and lastly, drawing flowers, clouds and grass to top it off. They called it, Thankful Trees. Too cute.

I was tickled by some of the things they wrote. One wrote, they were thankful for their Mom and Dad. Another one wrote, they were thankful for Mommy taking me to Chuck E. Cheese. Another one wrote, they were thankful for books. The one that got me and Hubby was the one that said, I am thankful for Thursday’s and every other Sunday’s. Huh? You’re thinking what we were thinking, yes? We didn’t get, at least not at first. Thursday’s and every other Sunday’s……..OHHHH!!! This one was written by our oldest son and that’s when it clicked. His Dad is off from work every Thursday and every other Sunday and he cherishes those times in his life. He said it’s not about doing things together on those days, necessarily but it’s just that Daddy is home and his presence means the world to him. *sniffle *sniffle *tear *tear…priceless!

Both my Husband and I love to read. In school we read many of the same kind of books and love talking about them with our kids.
We are so pleased that they also love reading and at times we have to ask them to put the book down and get their chores done, Ha!
They can get really serious with it too...i.e. taking a book to bed and when the lights are out they pull out a flash light or in the case of our older two, their cell phones usually do the trick.
I saw this picture and thought it would be a really neat idea to create something like this for them for all of their reading needs.

The one that I have up now has been up for more than one week in hopes you would take notice and did what it said. It’s by one of my favorite women who knows how to create bliss in her life and others, Mama Gena. The quote says, “ Write yourself A Love Letter”. What do you think about that? Sound crazy?

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been doing just what it says and now I have a collection that I can go back through anytime I feel just to remind myself of how special I am to me. We take time to tell others how we love them. We take time to tell others how special they are to us. Why not do this for yourself? Take some time out of your busy schedule, put you on the map, straight front and center and write yourself a love letter, today! Like Kat Williams says, You are YOUR #1 mother…bleep.

The Urban Nutcracker – Ballethnic Dance Company

One of my wishes in finding a Homeschool group for my family was one in which there would be opportunities for outings/field-trips. I'm currently a part of two Homeschooling groups and between the two there are plenty of opportunities and what makes it even better is that many of these outings are geared towards all of my kids different ages.

Last week Wednesday we went to see the play, The Urban Nutcracker. It was a beautiful performance that was presented by the Ballethnic Dance Company of Atlanta. The performers did a great job, the costumes were creatively done well, and everyone had a good time. The show sparked with excitement and thrill that kept you going and wanting more. It's not a long show which works wonders when you're with younger children who tend not to sit still in shows like this. My youngest wanted to leave the minute we got there, guess he just wasn't in the mood but when the show started he was all eyes and ears. He told me when it was done that he had a good time.

I used to really enjoy going to strip clubs because I love the naked body. As you can see by all the beautiful, naked pictures of women on my sidebar, I have a thing for beauty in the naked booty. And I especially like to see them moving in a seductive, teasing way. Strokers is a strip club in Atlanta that I had always wanted to go to and haven't until tonight. I was excited because I anticipated seeing all the beauties, pretty smiles, and lovely bodies but instead what I got was tired and less than interested robots. Ladies just going through the motions all in the name of a buck except for the twins, they were good but overall, Strokers, I think not!

Now, Shooters, I can get with, especially on a Saturday night. Diamond was the best! She worked that stage like it was made for her and then in the VIP room she was a beast!

What do you like in a strip club? And, if not, what don't you like?

Me and my boo been going to strip clubs for quite some time now and after all these years...nothing has changed. We go in hopes of a new, exciting adventure but instead what we find is the same ole same ole. The ladies look just plain ole tired. They get up on stage and they ain't taking it off unless there is money on the floor and if that does not happen, well the clothes are just not coming off. I like it when a woman knows she has an audience and she is ready to please. She is ready to kill it and leave no survivors. This woman is on her game and she knows this. Where are the ladies at who will put there back in to it? Where are the stripers who give a damn about making the experience a memorable one, not only for the other person, but for herself as well? Is it gone with the day when there was value and substance even in stripping?

I have to give props though to those beautiful ladies getting up on the stage nowadays working with what they have to work with. The music is what it is and the messages, well, it is what it is as well. They try and I have to give it to them however, its got to be difficult to get up there and feel your best in spite of the song that says, imma make it rain, yes imma make it rain, bend over your azz girl, imma make it rain. You gotta have a a wall so thick that you can get past all that nonsense to dance straight.

Take me back to the day where love songs were truly that, love songs. Where Luther would be playing in the background and while you was getting it on you were also getting a message of making a house a home. I'm talking about music that made you feel valued. Value man! Where is the value? Now our love songs tell us to have our face down azz up that's the way we like to fu$k. WTF? How about, lick, lick, lick, like you like a lollipop? Ok, maybe not that one so much because I wouldn't mind being licked like a lollipop!

Anita, Lionel, Teddy, and oh, Mr. Barry!! Yeah, now that's what I'm talking about! LOL!

Ladies and men, I envision a place where women can walk around naked, freely, and as sexually as they want giving and receiving pleasure as a Goddess should. She is Queen, beautiful in her nakedness and flowing in her own ocean of pleasure, pouring it on to everyone in her path. Hypnotizing with her magik, she's a Goddess. She has the power and knows where that power lies. She knows, she knows. ;-)

Well its time to get out of this parking lot and head on home.

I wanted to share with you something a blogging friend of mine is doing because quite frankly, it rocks! Christie over at ChatterBox Christie is taking a whole month off from blogging. Yes, an entire month away and its not just from blogging either. She's also taking time away from all things online. What do ya'll think about that? Could you turn off your online world for that long? I could and did, but could you? What would be some of your fears? Would it be that serious to you? For some, it would be a major life changing event. For some, their stats would be their biggest concern. For others it would be the connection to friends and life happening online - maybe the fear of missing out.

I unplugged because I needed some time away, to refresh, and reconnect with others offline. I got out of it exactly what I wanted.

So my question is, could you unplug from all things online for a period of time?

I remember bobbing my head and singing along to the over weight lovers in the house! Heavy D was one of the original rappers I grew up listening to who inspired me and many with his music.

Gone Fishing!

Monday we went on a field trip down to on Chattahoochee River with our Homeshcool group and learned how to fish! This was the kids very first time fishing and they had a ball. I was really impressed with their enthusiasm and level of interest. They learned how to cast a line, hook the bait, cast it out and sit and wait…and wait, and wait. Yeah, it’s a whole lotta waiting!! LOL!! I thought they were going to lose interest and say forget this but they were troopers and hung in their with a little help from me. They used me to hold their pole while they walked up and down the dock and took in the scenery. It was so beautiful out there! The weather was perfect with the exception of the heat waves we felt every now and then from the sun. Wearing a hat will surely help. They had a great time and are looking forward to doing it again soon. They didn’t catch any fish but that didn’t stop them from enjoying themselves. They were very grateful for the experience which their Daddy and I both hoped for.

Thanks to one of our homeschool mommies for getting her husband to teach our kids fishing 101. He rocked it out and handled all of the kids beautifully!!!

Saturday night we went to Kats Café and had a great time checking out the comedy show!! I absolutely love comedian Karlous Miller! He was the host for the night and brought the house down. We laughed so hard our cheeks were hurting. The boy is bad and he knows it too. The first time Hubby and I saw Karlous was at Apache Café and since then we try to find out where’s he’s going to be and make sure we are there. I’m So Loved

I had a fantabulous time celebrating my special day! My husband woke me up yesterday morning and said pack your girlie bag your not coming home tonight and leave the rest up to me. Well alrighty then! I got up and did just what he said and the rest of my day was completely out of my hands and into his. It was a wonderful feeling to have experienced early in the morning, just as wonderful as that beautiful view from our hotel room balcony. It felt like we were on top of the world!! My children put together a beautiful, creative, outstanding video for me. They are so talented! They sang, danced, and acted in a video they created all by themselves. I was so surprised and proud at their effort that I could not stop smiling. I was almost in tears watching my babies on the screen showing their appreciation and care for me, it was priceless!

It’s been a long weekend and I’m so tired. Which is why I’m about to do something I haven’t done in ages…go to bed before 12AM. I have to be up bright and early tomorrow morning because I’m taking my two older kids fishing tomorrow with our homeschool group. This will be their first time going fishing, I’m hoping they will enjoy the experience as much as I am going to enjoy giving it to them. #homeschoolingrocks!

Fabulous Finds Friday! #7 Antiquing!

Yesterday when Hubby and I were out house hunting we had a little time to kill in between appointments so we went to an antique store I had been wanting to visit for some time. I'm so glad we did! It's a beautiful store filled with many, many old treasures that anyone can bring to life with a little tlc.

When I was a little girl I used to love reading Little Goldens. Do you remember those? They are those little books with the golden trimmings made by Disney. I picked up 15 for $3!! You read that right! They were 5 for a dollar. The gentleman selling them said his wife passed earlier this year and her love for books had accumulated to around 2500 in their home. So he's selling them at really great prices but keeping the majority of her cook books. He didn't do much cooking when she was alive so when she passed he picked up a new hobby in cooking and inviting friends over to enjoy the feast. I thought that was really sweet and a beautiful way to connect with something his wife enjoyed when she was still with him. I enjoy people and hearing about their personal stories, I eat them up.

The Chow Chow was a hit!

I remember eating Chow Chow as a little girl and remembering loving it so much I would want it all the time. Every now and again I would get a taste for it as I got older but it was left right there, just a taste. They also sell Amish canned foods and lucky me to walk in and see a full display of delicious jams and pickled goods. I scooped this one up and when the kids tasted it they loved it. Have you ever had Chow Chow?

Ahhh, the kids are finally in bed and it’s time for me and the hubstar to unwind and get it in. He helped me out so much tonight with ironing the kids clothes for homeschool game day tomorrow, putting on a load of linens to wash and getting the little ones ready for bed. He’s the man and I love him so. Cheers baby!

Motherhood Is A Musical!!

I so needed to go see the Motherehood The Musical on Saturday. I was reminded of how much of a job well done I'm doing in the lives of my children. I love being a Mommy. Ever since I was a little girl I knew I was going to be someone's mother one day. I was created to do this and although there are days when I'm just exhausted and I don't know where I'm going to find the strength for the fab five, I wouldn't have it any other way. And not to mention, there is no rewind button.

I went to see the musical with my good friend Camelia on Saturday afternoon. She told me about it a few weeks ago and we've been planning on making it happen since. I would never have thought I'd enjoy it so much. I laughed until I cried. I related to many of the skits the four talented actresses performed especially the Mommy, Mommy, Mommy musical number. I can’t tell you how many times a day I hear that name! I know many of you can relate to that, especially if you’re homeschooling and are home with your babies all day. You gotta love it!

Run and go see this play! You will not regret it! I highly recommend it to all mothers, of course, but I would really recommend it to new and expecting moms and those of you who are planning/thinking about becoming a mom. There is a lesson to learn, experience, and enjoy in the many stages of being a mother and the play does a great job covering many of these stages. I have to say I really miss the beginning stages. From finding out I was pregnant to all the sweet cues over my pregnancy and my oh so round and huge tummy *giggle*. And let’s not forget that waddle walk, loved it! I also miss the smell of a newborn to all the shopping for that newborn!! SN: if you allow me to hold and swaddle your little sweetie you might just have a difficult time getting them back, LOL! I’m gonna love all over them!!

I appreciate having had those experiences. I enjoyed the many goods along with the not so goods like, the physical pain of carrying them (my babies all weighed 8lbs and bigger), sleepless nights, sore nipple from nursing (ouch!), and all the questions I had about whether or not I was doing it “right”. All of those experiences have given me years of appreciating my Motherhood. Now that I’ve entered into other stages, like the teenage years all I have to say is…Bring It On!! Motherhood Rocks!!

I would love to see the play again and just might before it comes to an end in Atlanta on November 20th. It’s November! Time For Creating Lasting Love, Tip #4

I love this time of year! I love the many colors that spring out during this time of year especially the orange and yellow hues. I enjoy watching how the trees naturally and effortlessly flow through their process of change not needing to be told what to do but just doing what comes naturally.

November is my favorite month of the year. I’m totally bias when I say that because it's my Birthday month *wink* *wink* and I’m excited as hell! November 5th is my Birthday to be exact and I'm so looking forward to the celebrations to come. This is another year to celebrate me! It’s another year to appreciate me growing beautifully, another year of me evolving and learning more of who I am, and another year to appreciate my presence in the lives of others. I am truly blessed by these acknowledgments and don’t take them for granted. It hasn’t always been that way for me though. I didn’t stop long enough to appreciate what my presence meant in the lives of others. I mean really stop long enough to appreciate the value inside of me and how much others appreciated that. Sometimes the very thing we take for granted within ourselves is the very thing someone else needs from us.

Along with this knowing comes much responsibility that doesn’t always flow easily and effortlessly. Sometimes it takes effort and a willingness to continue to move forward in the face of discomfort and fear. This discomfort came for me when I had to be vulnerable and felt like that was just the craziest thing I could ever do. It was, at least to me, but it was exactly what I needed to do but chose not too because life had to be perfect. I couldn’t allow my flaws to be shown. Little did I know they were already being shown anyway. I was the only one who didn’t want to acknowledge them. Since then I’ve embraced my flaws and have given my fears the middle finger and that damn sure feels better.

Through my growth I’ve learned to allow my blossoming to be used as a gift in helping others to live through and accept their own blossoming. I’ve learned that you cannot run from who you truly are, YOU will catch up with you sooner than you think. One of my gifts to others this year is to allow myself the permission to be fully who I am with them, at all times, no matter how uncomfortable it may be at times. I’m speaking about allowing others to be blessed within my own vulnerability.

We’ve been taught that being vulnerable means being irresponsible with yourself and that you should protect and guard yourself from the exposure that being vulnerable will bring. This could very well have some truth to it but what do you really have to loose? If you open your heart and speak from a place of what others may say is weakness or girlie and you give your absolute truth and it allows you to grow from the experience, then what have you really lost? It sounds to me like GAIN, yes? Now, what the hearer does with that is up to them, that has nothing to do with you. What you are left with is your ability to be open and vulnerable with another which is ultimately what we all want to do because it’s where our truth lives.

If I were to stick with the belief that I had to “protect myself” and not continue to walk in the direction of being vulnerable my husband and I would not have the kind of open, loving, and accepting relationship that we have today. I would not be as open and receiving as I am with him which would mean no more growth and endless possibilities for us. How would we be able to create lasting love if I were closed to him and he were closed to me? He wouldn’t be the man he is today if I didn’t give him my gift of being vulnerable. I know he appreciates it and trusts me because of my openness. I wouldn’t have the kind of connection that I have with my children and the fact that they can talk to me about anything. My children wouldn’t know the beauty of being vulnerable and that there is actual beauty in that. I have extended that same kind of openness to friends that I would have never, ever, ever done before but glad I am and it feels amazing to be able to do so.

This season represents effortless transformation, allowing, growing, and a willingness to flow and let go of the old to make room for the new. What are you holding onto that you need to let go of? What are you afraid of letting go of that you think you need to have in order to “protect” yourself from not getting hurt? These pictures that I chose to share show roads leading to nowhere or at least we can’t see where they are leading. Life is just like that, we find ourselves at these points in the road and we know we need to keep moving forward but are terrified to do so. If you begin to put one foot in front of the other you will eventually get there. Where? The last picture represents the light that you will walk into, a place that you will eventually arrive at. It represents warmth which is a great feeling to experience especially traveling paths of unfamiliarity. It represents the peace that you thought you would never experience at the beginning of this journey. It represents a more grounded you who will experience safety that you are yearning for from within your own self.

Let go and just flow! (p.s I was once afraid to live by those words too )

Hi Lovies!! I miss you guys so much!

~ I've been very busy this past week taking care of my home, my family, and myself. I did make it to Jeju this past Monday which gave me space to relax, release, and regroup. I spent over an hour in one of the healing rooms reading, resting, and falling asleep. I woke up drenched, feeling like I just had a good workout but didn't have to exert myself like I actually did. This is one of the reasons why I love this place so much. I lay, or sit and the room does the rest along with my willingness to stay in the room long enough for body to receive what it needs. I fell asleep, which wasn't my intention at all but my body had other plans. Don't you just love how your body tells you exactly what it needs. We humans have a slight issue with the way this works though. We don't listen long enough to what our bodies are telling us, what signs its gently (and sometimes not so gently) showing us. Slow down and listen, your body is calling for some attention.

~ I haven't been able to leave my usual comments on my favorite blogs but I have been reading and thinking about you guys. I will be by soon to leave my love.

~ Any tool that will make blogging easier is a must have, yes? Well for a while I've been wanting to try out the Blogger mobile app which allows you to post on the go. I'm using it right now for this post and I used it for another previous post. I like it so far. I've noticed a few things are a little off, like my alignment, and picture sizes. I haven't been successful inserting any links easily either and my font size is different but I'm sure if I play around with it more i'll have a better understanding. Once the post is published if I want to change picture sizes, insert links, change font size I can do so as soon as I have access to my laptop. Do you use Blogger's app to post on your blog?

~ Did any of you go see Jay Z and Kanye?? I wanted to go see them so bad but had to pass this time. We are moving in a few weeks so going to see them in concert is not a priority right now. But it sure would have been nice!

~ Yesterday me and Camelia, The Blooming Diva went to go see the play Motherhood, loved it! The play will be here through November. I will be posting about it soon.

Field trip to the Apex Museum with our Homeschool Group!

Yesterday’s fieldtrip was to the Apex Museum located on Auburn Ave. in Atlanta. If you’ve never been, it’s a must see exhibit. The kids and I learned so much about our history as a people, the great kings and queens who ruled and built nations full of culture and royalty. Our tour guide was wonderful in the way he handled all the different ages in our group. I loved the way he taught all of us to change the way we have been taught to say,
“my ancestors were slaves”, to my ancestors were enslaved people. Wow!, what a difference it makes when it’s communicated that way. One of the best exhibits to me, was the Timeline where the kids learned that our ancestors made the first mathematical calculator and that Africa was first named Alkebu-Lan. The Museum is located in the heart of “Sweet Auburn”, one of history’s wealthiest black populated neighborhoods. It is also the birth home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The pictures that I took are only a fraction of what the museum actually has to show and offer. In one section you can enjoy a couple of short films, one on the history of Sweet Auburn. My kids had a great time and we are looking forward to visiting the museum with their Daddy soon!

Exactly What I Needed

Last week Tuesday I had a full two hour pleasurable experience at The Sole Spa. Yes, in the middle of a Tuesday afternoon I dropped everything and decided it was finally time to go and allow my body to receive some pampering.

{Thank you Honey for surprising me with such a gift, for no special occasion, just simply giving me something I would thoroughly enjoy. You like doing things like this for me and I'm absolutely grateful. It was just what I needed to prepare me for the eventful weekend that I/we had.}

The Sole Spa specializes in reflexology and foot massage. They also provide full body massage from head to toe as well. I've had reflexology performed on me before but this, by far, has been my best experience yet. My appointment started with a 60 minute body massage that was a combination of deep tissue and Swedish technique. I asked for that combo because there are certain parts of my body where I need deeper, more focused penetration. Over the years this has changed for me. I used to never be able to stand deep tissue but I welcome it now. I was in pure bliss as she took her time to release energy blockages throughout my body. I was in need of this release because it was messing with my equilibrium, my flow. Ever feel tension in your neck or around the top of your shoulders? And no matter how many stretches you may do the tension still remains. That's where I was experiencing my blockages. My energy was not flowing through my body as it should and it was time to get what I needed, to get what my body needed, a release.

After my body massage I got up from my bed, sipped on some more of my ginger tea. If you know me, you know I love ginger tea. She led me to the sitting area where she prepared a tub of warm to slightly hot water for me to soak my feet in. This was so relaxing that it felt like my whole body was submerged in the tub. Come to think of it, I wish it was but I'll leave that for JeJu. While my feet soaked she gave me an amazing face massage. That did it, I was on my way to complete and utter surrender. I slowly drifted off to slumber. I felt her leave my face and walk down to my feet. After drying them off she began, what I think her sole purpose here on earth is, reflexology. I want you to picture eating your favorite dessert as you slowly take a bite, and savour it in your mouth for as long as you need to in order to experience a burst of electricity pulsing through your body over and over again. You feel me? For about 45 minutes that electricity pulsed through my body freely, playfully, and as easy as it wanted to. I was open to receive her healing and allowed my body to respond in whatever way it wanted to, needed to.

Since then there have been other opportunities that have come up during my week and weekend that have assisted in more release and progressive healing.

I had a full weekend and I am exhausted to say the least but I’m ready for a wonderful week ahead! Yesterday I had the opportunity to celebrate with one of my favorite consignment shop second year anniversary. I’ve got lots of pictures and a wonderful story to come. Last night me and the Hubstar hit up a new spot in the heart of Buckhead called, Beluga Martini Bar and we had a freakin’ BLAST!! The live band was off the chain!! I’ll be writing a review about it this week on yelp and I’ll be sure to let ya’ll know when I do. Friday my kids and I visited Grandma’s. Don’t you just love Grandma’s? I was in need of a new make-up bag and who do I call for that, Mom of course. She’s always got the good stuff. Shopping in her closet is like shopping at one of the finest thrift stores in ATL, LOL. We also hit up a few library’s in search of one of the American Girls books for Gabby. She’s in a book club and needs to get ready for that. This week Hubby and I have some birthday celebrations to attend with friends, looking forward to that and other little things going on here and there. Speaking of celebrations my birthday is coming up in November!! November 5th is my birthday and I’m so looking forward to celebrating moi! I’ve been spending some more time on my Pinterest filling up my closet’s wishlist. As soon as you can, stop by and peep the goods.

Memory Lane Monday’s And Then Some

I’ve been a closet thrifter for years. I used to consign my kids baby clothes, children’s clothes, shoes, and some of my own things all the time. I remember washing clothes, ironing, and loading them in bags or boxes to take them to the consignment shop. Hubby introduced me to the whole idea of thrifting and consigning, can you believe that? He was damn good at it and would thrift shop all the time before we got married. When I got involved I found that consignment shops fit me better. I enjoyed the idea of taking my treasures in the store, being compensated for them, and then finding new treasures of my own. Hubby wasn’t too crazy about that part of it he just wanted to get in and out, none of that clothing exchange thing for him. It became a hobby for me so much that we decided to turn it into our own business and open up an ebay store. It was great! Our store name was, Picture Me Perfect and we loved it. We sold used and new clothing from, babies to young adults. We would buy our new clothes by the bulk from various online retailers, take pictures of the items on our mannequins, load it to the store, and then voila, we were in business. We ran the store from 04’- 05’ and it was great while it lasted. We made a decent profit, and would have kept going if it were still a good fit.

Now back to thrifting. When Hubby introduced me to thrift stores I was a little hesitant at first. I wasn’t too keen on the idea of wearing clothing already worn by someone else. Have you guys ever thought about it like this? My MIL would thrift shop all the time and would find amazing deals that I thought was just ri-di-cu-lous! Our conversations would go something like this, Me: “ You found what, and where, for how much??” Her: “ Oh, yes I did! And look at what else I found!” LOL! Even though I was reluctant I was willing to give it a try and was sold after a few trips and the most amazing treasures. Over the years I found a few shops that I really like and just recently found another. However, I still haven’t been able to find a children’s consignment shop that I’m happy with. Children can be rough on their clothes and it’s hard for me to look past some of those nicks and bruises. I’m pretty certain my luck’s going change because I know all of my fashionista’s in the ATL reading this post will have some ideas for me, right?

Just this past Sunday, thanks to my friend who is a queen at thrifting in her own right, we cleaned up at a 50% off sale. You should have seen my Hubby taking his time, browsing the isles and finding treasures. Don’t you love it when your man goes shopping with you and is completely involved and is NOT harassing you to hurry up? It truly rocks!

After I realized how much money we were saving on clothing I got over the whole idea of wearing other peoples clothing. Once you buy the clothes, wash them or dry clean them, they are brand new to you. And once you wear it and get compliments, you alone know that you paid just $3 for your designer shirt. Priceless.

Saturday evening I had the pleasure of being a part of the one year anniversary celebration of 5 Continents. I enjoyed myself so much inside this little shop that I had to consciously contain myself. Shop owner Jennifer Saade' and her lovely mother Nicole who is from Paris, France entertained guests as they came to join in on the celebration.

Creating Lasting Love, Tip #3

Be open to pleasure.

Get familiar with the things that bring you pleasure like it's a matter of life and death. Become an active pleasure seeker and commit yourself to experiencing it regularly. You will be happier and so will your love. Loosen up and lose yourself in order to find yourself. Find out what you like, desire, and have to have in order to live in pleasure and feel absolutely amazing. Become pleasures best-friend and don't settle for anything less. Flirt with pleasure, you do know how to flirt, yes?

If you don't, here's an exercise that will help get you warmed up. Find a quiet place in your home, grab a mirror, and sit on the floor. Pull out a pen and paper and make a list of all the things you can think of that brings you pleasure. As you're writing look into the mirror every now and then and smile. Smile at that beauty staring back at you, you will appreciate your own admiration. If you start to feel the slightest elevation you are experiencing pleasure. Yes! What you want to do now is get familiar with what it feels like and master the art of keeping it around, always.

Now that you're open, when pleasure appears embrace it. Wrap your arms around it and hold on tight. Enjoy what you are feeling. Enjoy this delight. You need to recognize what it feels like to be in pleasure. Pleasure always feels good.

I understand it can be difficult to maintain a state of pleasure because it can be a bumpy ride at times. For some women pleasure is not always a good thing, can you relate to that? For some it's a "bad" thing that needs no paying attention to. Pleasure is a major distraction and if I spend all day seeking after it I will not get anything done. Sound familiar? I understand, I get it. I was one of those women. I wanted to experience what it felt like to live my life in pleasure but when I got close and it started to feel too good I would back away. Pleasure was becoming my best-friend but I had to let go. You know, for safety purposes. It wasn't "safe" because of what others might think of me and how I might look. My pleasure had to be tucked away and kept in my secret place, it was too much. What secret place exactly? Secret places are supposed to be kind of like a hideaway, a getaway place that you can't wait to go to, in secret. Secret places are not cobwebbed filled, dark, cold and lonely places where you carelessly hide one of your most prized possessions. Well, that's where I put my pleasure and hoped that it would go away. I had to "look" decent, legs crossed and closed, at all times even when those times happen to be with my love. Great, now what do I do? How in the hell am I supposed to have all this moist, sexual fun with my love if pleasure has been tucked away without any playtime with me. Am I really going to expect myself to turn on like I'm a switch and make it through this episode with my love. Yes, that's exactly what I expected to be able to do and keep it going like he wasn't going to notice that weak ass stunt I just pulled. I wasn't kidding anybody else but myself.

How many of you can relate to this? Is what I'm talking about stirring up feelings inside of you and touching a place of familiarity? If so, here is what you do. As I said when I first began this love letter to you, be open to pleasure. This is a phrase I want you to become very friendly with. Say it in the mirror, say it on the train, say it before you go to bed, say it when you're standing over the stove cooking. Play with it, roll it around on your tongue, and feel it. Good. Now that you're getting acquainted saying it to yourself, make a shift and say it to your love. This, I want you to do non-verbally. Here's an example. When you and your love are speaking to each other, say it in your mind. No, I'm not telling you to ignore the conversation I'm telling you to become aware, open and relaxed in that moment. Your love will notice a difference. You will be open to receiving from your love. Trust me, if your thoughts wonder off a little, I'm sure this won't be your first time. The point is to get you to open up with your love by inviting pleasure in to stay in. Be open to pleasure and pleasure will be open to you. You will become a pleasure magnet and wouldn’t you like to experience that! You will be irresistible. Pleasure will always have a place in you and other's will notice. Your love will notice and so will you.

Thursday afternoon D and I had the pleasure of having lunch with two of our beautiful friends, Jason and Kelly! I love good times like these, good food, laughter, and fellowship. We met in Buckhead at one of D and my favorite places to eat and held up the outside patio for some hours catching up on good times.

Word{ful} Wednesday…#52 We Support LAMA!

I’m so proud of my team!! On Saturday morning me, hubby, and our two oldest put on our running shoes and with everything we had in us completed a 5K walk/run in support of The Literacy Alliance of Metro Atlanta. It was great being able to do it as a family. We encouraged and pushed each other to make it to the finish line. You don’t know how good we felt crossing over the finish line! This was the kids first and they did absolutely great.

I turned around and captured them in action. Do you see the whole mini-me thing going on here? Serious business.

Welcome to Memory Lane Monday’s with a twist. We started this project back in 2008 with the intention of sharing our pictures from many, many years ago. Well today we’ve switched things up a bit. (And when I say we, I’m referring to myself and my loving husband). Click on this link to read about Memory Lane Monday’s and how it all got started.

Memory Lane Monday’s will not only consist of older pictures but will include childhood memories that I want to share. *(In some cases I will use other photos I find on the web to help convey my message).

Memories influence who we are today. Whether they were great memories or not they still live on in our minds helping to create our present lives. This memory is so special, I can remember it like it was um,...a few years ago.
I can remember as a little girl heading over to Empire Roller Skating Center in Brooklyn, NY. My Dad loved to skate. He would get our there and do his thing and as his little girl, I would be so proud! He taught me and my brothers how to roller skate. Almost every weekend me, my Dad, my little brother, and our church family would head over to Empire to get our skate on. Guess who would be there as well? Many of you may already know the answer to this question…yes, Hubby . Hubby was very much an integral part of that church family and would enjoy those weekends as well.

The rink would be so packed but I didn’t mind. I just wanted to rent my skates and go. I learned a few tricks here and there but what I would especially love to do is watch the professionals do their thing. Have you ever seen what these people can do on roller skates, it’s beautiful. Seriously. It would mesmerize me and I only hoped to become as good. I didn’t make it as far as some of them but I did do my thing .

To this day I still love to skate and go from time to time with Hubby and our kids. The last time we went I tried one of those tricks I used to do as a little girl and found myself right, smack, and center on the damn floor..SMH! (shaking my head). OUCH, that hurt, LOL! Turns out I’m a little rusty with my moves but that’s cool, that’s cool. With a little practice I’ll be doing my damn thing soon again. Ok, maybe with a lot of practice.

This is one childhood memory I will forever hold dear to me. Thanks Dad!

Empire Roller Skating Center was one of Brooklyn’s largest roller skating rinks and sadly closed it’s doors in 2007. So many of my favorite memories were formed there. I will always remember those moments and allow that joy to fill up inside of me as I stroll down memory lane.

PUSH, PUSH, PUSH…Sometimes It’s What You Have To Do!

Oh Friday, what a day.

My kids and I began the morning with our meditation and mantra’s. After we were done everyone went their separate way to get ready for their scouts meeting with our homeschool group.

I was still not as settled as I would have like to have been. I had a lot on my mind and the week had already been a very busy one for me. Before Hubby left for work we talked for a little. This is always a soothing time for me. He encouraged me, poured his love into me and left for work. I sat on my bed and didn’t move. The thoughts rolling around in my head were mixed with positives and negatives. He couldn’t remove those negatives for me, I had to. So, I got up, put one foot in front of the other and the kids and I were on our way.

Push, Push, Push….those were the words I kept telling myself.

This was the first scouts meeting of our group and I was to teach the first class. This is our homeschool groups rendition of the boys and girls scouts. I think it’s pretty cool to be able to give our kids this opportunity and experience. I volunteered to teach the class on bullying, peer pressure, and self-esteem. Right up my alley, right? Well why was I such a nervous wreck about it then? I was nervous and had to get over and on with it. My kids even noticed my disposition and asked me if I was ok. They also offered words of encouragement.

I hadn’t “taught” a class of children in awhile. Teaching my own children is one thing so not to confuse the two. Also, I wasn’t sure how many children would be there and we weren’t sure of the ages. I’m used to teaching groups in specific ages, with specific messages which makes lesson planning a lot easier. So with the uncertainty under my foot, looped with massive doses of encouragement from my family, I was of.

I got there a whole half an hour early so that I would have enough time to prepare the room and atmosphere. As we were approaching the front door we noticed people standing outside. It wasn’t opened yet. Huh? That’s weird. I’m supposed to be meeting other moms here who were supposed to be inside already so how could it not be opened as yet? I go back to my car, pull up the info on my phone and what do you know,…I’m at the wrong place. I plug in the correct address and my GPS says that it’s another half hour away!! Ok, don’t panic. What do I do? So my kids look at me and say, Mommy, you can make it, let's go. Ugh! Can I pahleez bitch and moan right now? I already drove a half and hour to get here. I do not want to drive that far away. Oh, well. Back on the road again, all the way to Douglasville, Ga. Douglasville, Ga is an hour and twenty minutes away from my home!

I get there at exactly the time we were supposed to start. I rearranged the chairs to my liking, took some deep breathes and dove right in. According to my kids, I did grrrrreat! I love their support! The other kids enjoyed themselves as well. I saw plenty smiles, giggles and got a large amount of participation. I was very happy to see that. The ages ranged from one to eleven, not a bad age range at all. It was great. I know they got the message. I know they’ll stop and think twice about bullying, being bullied and how to handle themselves if ever in that situation. They enjoyed the skits I came up with in order to drive the point home, everyone was much involved. And I know they especially enjoyed the fact that this is their first scouts class!!

Last night on a 48 Hour CBS special the topic was Bullying…Words Can Kill. How appropriate was it for them to catch that show with me and see how bullying affects children who go to school. The things we heard and saw were unbelievably sad. To see what kids are going through these days is disheartening to say the least.

Creating Lasting Love, Tip #2

Even though my legs were sore from my race last Thursday evening I felt great by the time I went out Friday night with Hubby. This time we went out to one of the lounges we used to frequent awhile ago. We wanted a taste for something old but looked forward to creating a new experience. We started the night young so we would have plenty of time to satisfy our many desires that evening. By the time our night was over, we did just that.

Having this time to share together has been one of the endless ways we pour love juices back into our relationship. From a very young age I decided that when I go married I would not wait on love to flow into my relationship but I would be an active participant in creating that flow. I’ve always believed that this is as important as our hearts are to our bodies.

Friday night I enjoyed watching Hubby on the dance floor doing his thang. I'm talking sexxxxyyyyy! I couldn't contain myself from kissing all over him and playfully biting his lips and cheeks. I loved it when he blushed and giggled uncontrollably with me, that’s part of the fun. I know he enjoys my playfulness even if it embarrasses him a bit.

He on the other hand he would say the night was all about watching me do my thang on the dance floor. According to him, I'm the one who's getting my groove on, he's just there keeping me company. He definitely knows how to make me blush and, my oh my how I love to blush. I love hearing his compliments and most of all I love the way he looks at me when I'm creatively turning him on. Ladies, know what turns your man on and give it to him. Make it happen whenever and wherever you can. Your rewards will come in great numbers and your relationship will flourish.

It drives my man crazy to see me in a mini-skirt. I know this and wear them often. I know they get him fired and charged up. I love the look in his eyes when I'm on the dance floor moving my hips from side to side, letting my mini-skirt rise....oh yeah, that get's him going alright!

Creating love, happiness, friendship, and lots of juicy experiences in your relationship/marriage is a MUST.

Race Update & Other Ramblings

Today certainly feels like Saturday, not a Friday. Maybe it’s because I’m so out of it right now. Worn out to be exact and what I usually like to do (if I don’t have anything scheduled) is lounge around and relax on a Saturday. So my Saturday has come a day early, tomorrow will be my Friday.

(SN:I just absolutely love my Fabulous Finds Friday, post #2. Did you enjoy it as much as I did? I particularly enjoyed the story told by the elderly man who lost his wife. And after she passed how he found something he had given her many, many, many years ago. How shocked was he to find that she kept all those tiny expressions of love from him. Shoot, I was impressed and the time and care he took in creating those small things. (The story made me tear up.)

Now on to the race! It went well. We had so much fun doing it together and crossing over the finish line was the best part. Some people were “doing the butt” dance as they crossed over. Some crossed over jumping up and down. Some screaming and shouting. Others waving their hands in the air. We on the other hand, fist bumped. (*Ahem*, hubby’s too cool for all that other stuff ). I’m so proud of him. He finished his first race and is looking forward to more. Sadly though, I am the one who is sore. That’s why I’m resting today, taking it easy, at least physically. We have another race or two to complete before the year is over and I don’t need to feel like this when I’m done those. If there are any runners reading this post, please give me some pointers because the back of my knees are killing me. I heard that doing rowing exercises can help. I don’t remember feeling this way last year after my first 5k.

Hubby took a few pics of me after the race. I was tired and exhausted but completely satisfied. He also took some pics of me while we were out shopping for my new running shoes at one of the best runners/walkers/joggers shoe place store in Atlanta, Phidippides. He had fun clicking away and of course I had fun on the other end. I must have tried on 5 or 6 pairs before we found my fit but I was determined to get the one for me. We found it after all that work. I kept feeling like we weren’t there yet until that one pair I tried on felt like air. It felt like it was made for my feet. While I was running it felt like I was running on a mattress. This was definitely worth the hour or so we were in the store. If you go to the Phidippides in Atlanta, ask for Gregory. He was good. Real good. He took his time. Like I said, it took over an hour to find my pair but we did with his patience and expertise. You can tell he enjoys what he does. In the search for the right shoe for you, they have you run back and forth in the store so they can check you out (no I’m just playing, LOL). They have you run back and forth to see the angel that your foot lands on the ground every time. They check to see if you tend to lean inward or out. This helps them to narrow it down. So be prepared to do some running or walking if you’re a walker.

While Waiting...I Goofed Off ;-)

This was the 29th annual Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk & Fitness Program. They have this event every year so I’m looking forward to participating next year, hopefully. They provided so many different activities for registered members before the race that helped us to get ready. They offered boot camp at Piedmont Park which entailed three levels of fitness training. Every Wednesday and Thursday evening we met at Phidippides in Atlanta and Sandy Springs to train with other participants. Also, LA Fitness allowed all who registered for the race use of their gyms from Aug. 10th – Sept. 7th to assist us in our training as well. At the end of the race we were also provided free food from Jason’s Deli which was pre-ordered to our delight after signing up for the race.

They had a full schedule yesterday during the hours leading up to the race and afterwards. The meeting place was adjacent to Turner Field where everyone gathered to pick up their race numbers. The starting line up was directly under the Olympic rings. It got crowded quickly. We lined up with the walkers I wasn’t getting in the way of all those eager racers who had their eyes on the gold. We wanted/needed to pace ourselves and finish (not last though) the race. We crossed the finish line exactly one hour after it began. Not bad for beginners.

It’s time for me to get back to reading more about Elizabeth (the woman who wrote Eat, Pray, Love. It’s the book I’m currently reading with one of my book clubs) and get my rest and relaxation on. It’s been great sharing our story with you. I hoped you enjoyed.
